Black women in 2020 were the real MVPs, showing strength and courage like no other - from leading protests to facing heartbreaking interviews with grace. The black experience can be summed up as traumatic, and let me tell you, I feel that pain in my soul.
Nevertheless, being an advocate for social justice or a dedicated masculinist around the clock will not necessarily improve your daily life. I am not suggesting that participating in protests or voicing our grievances is ineffective, but I do believe there are alternative, potentially more effective, ways to bring about change. It all begins with self-improvement. Cultivating interpersonal skills and a compassionate demeanor can bring more positive outcomes to your life than a fervent Instagram post ever could.

What are soft skills?
Soft skills are essential qualities that enable effective communication, collaboration, and interaction with others. These skills include:
Emotional intelligence
Self-awareness
Interpersonal skills
By enhancing these aspects of our personality, we can positively influence how we engage with others and how we are perceived. It empowers us to define our narrative, showcasing qualities such as compassion, kindness, and confidence. Embracing these attributes allows us, especially as women, to recognize our worth and confidently assert our presence in the world.

Type of Soft Skills:
Communication skills
Interpersonal skills
Ability to take critique well
Problem solving skills
Positive outlook
Individuals possessing excellent soft skills are outstanding at engaging in conversations. They have the ability to adapt to different environments seamlessly, all the while coming across as genuine. As a result, they effortlessly establish connections with others.

Strategies for enhancing your soft skills
Expose yourself to more social environments: improvement comes with practice, and practice is necessary. Prioritize networking and familiarize yourself with various personality types.
Observe social cues and body language: while conversing, it's important to pay attention to non-verbal signals in order to understand others' emotions and react appropriately.
Always wear a smile: Being approachable and friendly is welcoming. Positivity is contagious, so maintaining a positive attitude sets a great example.
Focus on your speaking voice: Your tone is crucial! It's important to be mindful of how we come across to others.
Practice responsiveness over reactivity: focusing on improving listening skills and being open to receiving criticism. Cultivate patience and forgiveness, while also striving to be less defensive in your interactions.
Self-educate: Explore every article, Instagram post, and book available on refinement and self-improvement. Just like with anything else, the more you learn, the more knowledge you can absorb.
